The Burger Pirate – by Jack (aged 8)

Burger pirateOn a dark, stormy night, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, a pirate ship bobbed up and down.  The ship’s captain’s name was Burger Beard. He was a chef and he knew that he made the best burgers in the world. On really long trips he usually ran out of food so he ate the food from his beard. On that stormy night, he had a good feast form his beard.

The Interview – By Ella (aged 9)

Young girl screamingThe young girl lived in a cottage and today she was thinking how to impress the managers who looked completely friendly but were doing something rude with their hands which they placed over their ears as she tried to persuade them of her perfection.  Jenny was cross and she stamped her feet and shouted “I have had enough of this!”. The skinny man with thick eyebrows was smiling, the chubby male with attitude was thrilled and the woman with pointy heels said “You’re in!”. They all stood up and yelled “Welcome to Yelling school!”

Hard Work Pays Off

WHILE OTHERS ARE AT PLAY

School is well and truly under way and while some students had trouble adjusting to the new year a small group of them took it in their stride with new confidence.

This group of students was invited to attend a two week intensive tuition catch-up session during the Christmas break.  Initially they were not too happy about attending, after all it was the holidays, but we thought they would benefit from the intensive program designed to better prepare them for the new year.

Each of the students needed to move closer to being aligned to the school curriculum as they were moving into secondary education.  As it turned out most of them covered the equivalent of one year of school maths during those two weeks and all were happy to be at school understanding the maths they are being taught this year.

Every student who attended deserves a huge pat on the back for their efforts.  It never ceases to amaze me what a child will achieve when given the correct environment and opportunity.

The Golden Touch – Geoffrey (aged 10)

White Christmas decorationIn 2017 at the Calopudib Sanctuary, a boy started glancing at a unique plant that looked like gold. The little boy was a curious botanist and when he gazed at the plant he said, “Amazing, what is it?” He looked in his plant book and whispered, “Nothing? That is preposterous” and then he gently harvested a petal for studying. It turned into a bar of solid gold and the petal grew back which made him confused but now very rich. The gold plant from Calopudib Sanctuary made that diminutive boy the man he is today-Bill Gates.

The Last Ship On Black Island – by Leon (aged 9)

Ghost IslandOne day a big old metal machine roaming the water like a battle ship, sailed into a giant storm with all hands on deck trying to get out.  Luckily, the ship had an ability to turn into a fighter jet named Raptor, fast as lightning.  First it put on the pistons and flew to Black Island, the spookiest island of all. They say the sounds of ghosts haunt till this very day!  Raptor got trashed by the ghosts and then the crew ran for their souls were in terror. The fighter jet put on the engines and almost scared the life into the ghost who scrammed and the crew ran for three days non-stop before they caught up with their fighter jet.

Students’ Stories – The Missing Magic

MagicianI didn’t not know my dad could do magic until he made chickens appear and he could make stick insects talk.  One day his magic was gone.  He told everybody but no one believed him.  Luckily my stick insect could still talk.  But then he remembered that he left his magic in a muddy puddle.  The next day he got his magic back.

Student’s Story – The Speared Dragon – by Geoffrey (aged 10)

Red DragonNot all dragons can fly but Felix was great at flying in fiery volcanoes.  He loved to soar as high as he could above the lava spitting mountains and then he would plummet down in a lurch kind of way.   One day he met an audacious boy who threw a spear at him that hit his wing.  Thousands of angry environmental protestors, furious that Felix was hurt, came up the hill towards them and the boy hid behind the scared and injured dragon.  Felix flew the foolhardy boy past the fiery volcanoes to safety.

Student’s Story – My Dad is a Warlock – by Jemima (aged 9)

MagicianI didn’t know that my dad was a man who was a witch.  I was scared when I found out my dad was a warlock but I still loved him because he is my compassionate gentle dad.  My dad does good magic like making poor people get money and gives people wishes and they come true but sometimes he can be fierce and ferocious at the same time and he does bad magic when that happens.  After I come home from school my dad does some good magic before I go to bed.  I love my warlock dad and he loves me.

The Nice Teacher at the Fete – Jemima (aged 8)

TeacherWhen the last sounds of the Children’s laughter for the good chapel service faded away, Miss Lenet cleaned up her classroom for the toy shop at the fete.  She was the kindest teacher in the school and every kid liked her.  That night a robber stole all the toys in the class room.  The next morning she didn’t know what to do.  The older kids that were in her class a long time ago heard about it and they made toys which they took to their old teacher for the shop.  At the fete the kids laughed all day.

Childrens’ Stories – The Jewels of Mermaid City – Sarah (aged 9)

mermaidIn the morning when it was very cold, Sunday-Sarah, the mermaid, was swimming happily in the blue water deep under the sea.  She had just remembered her evil sister was coming with an army of strong mermaids to take the very powerful jewel from her.  Sunday-Sarah had a plan to shut down Mermaid City to prevent Wilhema-Beth and her group of fighting mermaids from attacking.  Sunday-Sarah pressed the lock down bell so the sharks swam up to the very top where the army gathered.  As Wilhema-Beth went down to get the jewel, she saw sharks, her worst fear.  She led the army away from Mermaid City.
